Automatic updating sounds convenient, but it can quietly overwrite a reliable setup.
Suppose C2 was designed for birds in flight at 1/2000 second. During one session, you reduce the shutter speed to photograph a perched bird. If automatic updating is enabled, the slower speed may be applied in the saved mode without you realizing it.
