Focus stacking can produce extraordinary detail, but the technique becomes much easier when you configure the camera correctly before you take the first photograph.

Outdoor photography changes the equation.

Inside a focus stack, however, several photographs need to become one finished image.

Shooting RAW gives you considerable freedom to refine white balance afterward, but consistency during capture is still preferable.
